The Messerschmitt Bf 109 (often nicknamed the Me-109) was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. It was one of the first true modern fighters of the era, including such features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear.

The first 109s saw service in the Spanish Civil War, and then became the mainstay fighter plane of the Luftwaffe during World War II. During the Battle of Britain the 109 was used in new roles as an escort fighter, a fighter-bomber and for photo-reconnaissance.

A polished aerobatic performer, the Me 109 was credited with more aerial kills than any other aircraft in the second World War.

The Messerschmit's design makes it a brilliant 3D aerobatic performer for the experienced pilot: inside loops, outside loops, axial rolls, inverted flight, knife edge, stall turns, hammerheads, and spins are possible; it can roll very quickly and is super stable even when flying upside down. The wing and body used in this plane are specially designed to allow high G manoeuvres, however the wing loading is still very low.
